FAQ
Questions, answered
Straight answers about price, timing, hosting, ownership, and what happens after launch.
Cost & timing
How much does it cost?
$3,000, flat. It’s paid in three parts of $1,000: when you sign, when your preview link is live, and when you approve the finished site. After launch, the only cost is your domain (about $10–15 a year).
How long does it take?
About a month from your first payment. The biggest thing that affects the timing is how quickly your photos and details come in, which is why there’s a 14-day window for them.
What do I need to provide?
As much about your business as you’re comfortable sharing: your logo and brand colors, photos, your services, hours, the towns you serve, and the questions customers usually ask. I send you a form, so you won’t have to guess.
Hosting & ownership
How is the hosting free? What’s the catch?
Your site is built as plain, pre-made pages. There’s no database or server program running, so it can sit on Cloudflare’s free plan. The account is in your business’s name. Your only yearly cost is the domain, which you pay directly.
What if Cloudflare changes its prices one day?
Because the account is yours and the site is plain code, it can be moved to another host if that ever happens. You’re never locked in.
Who owns the website?
You do. Your domain and hosting account are in your name from day one. I keep a safe copy of the code in my private storage, and you can ask for it at any time.
After launch
What if something breaks after launch?
Every site comes with 30 days of free bug fixes, starting on launch day: a broken link, a form that doesn’t send, anything that isn’t working as built.
Can I change the text or photos myself later?
Small changes are $100 an hour, billed in half-hour steps, so a quick text swap is usually the minimum half hour.
What is SEO?
SEO is short for search engine optimization. It means setting your site up so Google can find it and show it to people searching for what you do, like “painter near me.” I build it in from the start: your site is sent to Google, every page gets a title and description that name your trade and town, and your business details are set up the way Google reads them.
Will my site show up on Google?
I build every site with the search basics done properly, and I submit it to Google. I can’t promise a ranking (nobody honestly can), but I can make sure your site gives Google everything it needs. A complete Google Business Profile and real reviews matter a lot too.
How I work
Why not just use Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress?
You can, and for some people it’s the right choice. The trade-offs: builders charge a monthly fee for as long as you have the site, and if you stop paying, the site goes away. Doing it yourself takes real time away from your business. WordPress sites depend on plugins that need regular updates to stay secure. What I build is plain, fast code with no plugins or database to maintain, hosting that costs nothing each month, and a site that’s yours.
Do you build online stores, booking systems, or member logins?
No, on purpose. Keeping sites simple keeps them fast, cheap to run, and hard to break.
Do you only work with local businesses near you?
No. I work with businesses anywhere. Everything happens by phone, video call, and email.
Is there a link to you on my site?
Yes, a small “Designed by Lighthouse Digital Sites” credit in the footer.
